Denver, Colorado – Attributed partly to Colorado’s great year-round weather, but mostly to an ever strengthening state-wide economy, ProCoat System’s hardscape division is seeing a dramatic rise in spending on “outdoor living” spaces, and sees a strong trend continuing throughout 2014 for outdoor fireplaces, kitchens and entertainment spaces, recreational areas, gardens and secluded sanctuaries with brisk sales from Fort Collins to Denver.
ProCoat Systems is a building supplies company with 30 years of experience selling exterior building products to building contractors and homeowners all along the Front Range. Not even in the building booms of the last three decades has there been such a strong interest in complete backyard makeovers, from paver patios to outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, meditation areas and more.
“Landscaping reality shows on cable TV can probably be attributed to people rethinking their backyards as more than a simple grill, patio and swing set,” said Marty Diner, co-owner of ProCoat Systems and manager of the hardscape division. “People are realizing that their outdoor spaces add a great deal of value to the way they spend leisure time, so why not create something spectacular?”
The most sought after amenities still are the most practical: kitchens and outdoor fireplaces that are surfaced with natural stone veneer to create a traditional-looking stone structure, but using modern stone veneer materials eliminates the weight by 80 percent or more. According to the American Society of Landscape Architects, “The category of gardens and landscaped spaces received a 94.2 percent rating… as very popular. Outdoor living spaces, defined as kitchens and entertainment spaces, were second most popular at 92.0 percent. Outdoor recreation came in third at 75.8 percent.” In terms of products that were in demand, “98.3 percent of respondents rated lighting as somewhat or very in-demand for 2014, followed by seating/dining areas (97.7 percent), outdoor fireplaces (95.4 percent), grills (94.3 percent) and installed seating (89.6 percent), which include benches, seat walls, ledges, steps, and boulders.” To provide the materials for this growing affinity for elegant outdoor living spaces, ProCoat Systems’ is expanding its selection of hardscape products to allow homeowners the variety to make truly unique outdoor living projects. Since summer-like weather really extends into October in Fort Collins, Denver and Colorado Springs, homeowners can spend more time outside, especially if they include amenities like outdoor fireplaces in their after-work retreats.
