How ProCoat Systems is Bringing Back the Rustic Look to Front Range Homesteads

When we launched ProCoat Systems in 1984 with just one product, there was no telling how ultimately successful we would be. Fast forward over thirty years and we can look back proudly on how we have transformed the visual aesthetic of the region. Where once there were endless runs of bare commercial cinder block walls and acres of vinyl siding and other wood siding substitutes, there are stucco clad buildings and thin stone veneer facades providing visual interest to formerly bland homes. The cities of the Front Range definitely look better for us having taken that leap of faith all of those years ago.

The Irony of Success

With stone and brick veneers making a once formidably expensive look accessible to most, the challenge of our success becomes one of keeping things fresh for our customer base. One of the truly exciting stone veneer developments, one especially suited to the weather and architectural history of Colorado, is Coronado’s WoodStone series of products.

Denver, and the other nearby cities, all began as frontier towns, ones featuring clapboard construction for the most part. In the humble first decades of settled history here, a brick or stone building was a rarity, affordable only to the elite. Of course, with our weather, insects, and threat of wildfires, wood clad buildings don’t stand the test of time without heroic measures being taken to preserve them.

Coronado’s WoodStone offers up the rustic and homey charm of weathered wood grain and color, but in the tremendously durable product you’ve come to know and respect from them.

Coming in two primary designs, Refined and Barn Plank, and a variety of color variants, the possibilities of using WoodStone as flooring, siding, or as a wall or fireplace accent, are truly exciting.

Capable of being installed in either vertically or horizontally oriented courses, WoodStone can be installed over both wood framed or CMU construction. With the recent trend of designers recycling salvaged lumber into new construction, thus driving up the cost for these materials, WoodStone, in its Barn Plank offering, can evoke the look of weathered wood at a fraction of the expense and hassle of the real thing.
